How to get face-meltingly amazing clients

Ze terribly gorgeous Ming-Zhu Hii

See this amazing woman? Her name is , and she’s one of my clients. Here is what she said about DIY Magnificence:

People – true to the pure transformational magic that Ms. Caine works on lives & businesses, DIY Magnificence has by FAR exceeded all expectations, and has sent me into a veritable dervish of divine re-ignition and nothing-but-the-truth telling.

Whenever my pack starts to feel a little too heavy, I return now to Catherine radiating off the page to me, to be 100% honest about just how much I can give the world.

In DIY Magnificence, Ms. C has created a recipe to save (and exalt) your business’ soul.

That is all.

I have re-read that a dozen times since she wrote it last week – every time my soul needs a top-up, in fact. I smile. I bask. I pat myself on the back for being wise enough to attract Ming-Zhu, a woman who will always, always squeeze every drop from our work and bring it from the level of “useful marketing stuff” to “transformative world-shaking impactful hand grenade”.

She makes that happen.

I could not do that without her, or someone like her.

I’m an alchemist, a catalyst. I am an extra special ingredient, not a just-add-water kit. It matters who I work with.

People like Elizabeth.

And then there’s this video from , who is another delightful woman as well as the most non-judgemental vegan I’ve ever met – and I have just realised I am friends with a LOT of non-judgemental vegans. (They’d have to be non-judgemental to be friends with me, I suppose.)

She video’d herself opening her copy of DIY Magnificence, which was not unexpected – I openly bribe people to do so. But what she did next rocked my world – watch this short clip to find out what. (Go on – it’s so worth it.)

Did you see that? SHE WROTE ME A SONG ABOUT MY PRODUCT. A very very catchy song that I have been humming ever since. I was grinning from ear to ear for hours after I watched that for the first time, and I’m grinning now as I think about it.

Still grinning.

And humming.

I say this again:

SHE. WROTE. A. SONG.

ABOUT. MY. PRODUCT.

I officially have clients who write me songs about my work – and if you include people who performed a song after reading one of my articles then that plural is justified.

Can I possibly explain how amazing that is?

It might not be in the slightest amount amazing to YOU.

And this is kind of my point. You might not want people writing testimonials with the words “veritable dervish of divine re-ignition and nothing-but-the-truth telling” in them.

You might not want people writing novelty hip-hop songs about your products.

But I sure as fuck do.

That is where I want to be, that is what I want for my business and life.

And so… I have set up an environment where this happens.

Where the kind of people who would truly luxuriate and soak in my words, transforming them as they are transformed by them, are welcomed in.

Where it’s awesome to write a song, if you want to.

Where it’s more than wonderful to shine.

I have created a space that gives me the rewards I want most.

And while I don’t get a song every day, I usually receive at least one email or piece of feedback that grows my soul as much as my bank account.

How did I do it?

  1. I got very clear about what I wanted from my business in terms of cash and joy.
  2. I described the people who would help me achieve those goals.
  3. I did everything in my power to attract those people and welcome them and serve them and make things worth writing songs about.

Put that way it sounds pretty elementary, but of course there was a long hard period of deeeeeeep intuition and planning and such, made longer by the complication that I had to figure most of this out on my own.

And so now, metatextually, we’re back at DIY Magnificence. Because as well as inspiring the action that keeps me grinning, it’s a tool for those action-takers to have the same experience themselves – to create businesses and offerings that light them up, that make them wander dazedly around the house telling the fridge that they have the best job EVAR.

That’s the sweetest proof I could ever think of that this works.

SHE.

WROTE.

ME.

A.

SONG.

If you’re ready to start getting masses of the same gloriousness – well, your own particular flavour of gloriousness – into your next offering, then now is the time to invest in DIY Magnificence. If you buy before the end of my birthday on May 28, you’ll also get nifty-keen special extra things. Find out more and get started today!

Ah! Love! I’ll admit it: I would love to get songs in the (digital) mail. For me, this all comes back to culture. As I define my business’s culture more clearly and me-ly, my radiant, wonderful clients start to get it, too. It’s so interesting, how the growth I’m experiencing attracts them, and then they help me to grow to the next place while I provide them with just what they need to get to their next place. It’s super fun and corny and wonderful.

Preeeeecisely. The realisation that YOU can set the culture and benefit from it is an amazingly powerful moment!

Elizabeth’s hip hop video is IN-CRED-IB-LE!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT! And that’s a REAAAALY big picture of me! And I LOVE IT, too! Thanks so much, Catherine.

I feel like I’ve found my #1 business guide, ally & all-round awesome person in you, so it’s pure, wondrous joy that you get so much out of how much we love you!

    Thank you for being. :)

oh boy!   For as long as I can remember I have sought to name the thing I most longed for out of life (by extension, therefore out of my work).

It was there that time I went to Ottawa with a friend.  Both of us in highschool and startingly new to each other.  I blurted out to a group that I wanted to go to Ottawa in the summer.  It would be my first independent trip, and sure I meant it – but who says yes like I do?  She did.  And we went –  all on a wild impulse made out of my longing for a magical boy….

    I digress.

well, after me and my friend wandered hand-in-hand a whole day we’d wind our way back to the B&B we were in and nestle into our beds, wrapping the caccoon of our solitude around ourselves with a journal and lamp light and the sound of breathing. Somehow instinctively knowing how to turn into the most sacred spaces inside ourselves while lying side by side – and then, just as instinctively turn back out toward each other and read our pages outloud. Fondling the shimmering, ephemeral details with our words – including the tender and loving things we were thinking about each other.  The purity of the reaching for what was most real but most fantastic and not having to beef it up, not having to rush around making it ok.  just laying it out, delicate as a heart beat in a pale wrist…how much more like falling in love those moments were than anything  I had ever known.

I ache in my longing place just remembering that.

    That’s still want I most.

Oh, and PS: I’m a (non-judgemental) vegan, too.

I find it totally amazing and wonderful. How wonderful to have a song written for you and your work, especially a rap one. ANd she performed it for you!
And any sentence with dervish in it is over the top. CONGRATULATIONS.  I’m happy for you and inspired. “Are you ready to shine.”

Ming-Zhu, you are so incredibly gorgeous.  What a beautiful photo.  Glad it’s so HUGE!  On a billboard, you’d be creating car crashes.  For sure.

Catherine, I love you.  That is all.

  • Tricia Karp

And the thing is, Ms Caine – another thing that’s so smart about you – is that when you write posts like this I can hear a little voice inside my head saying “But I want to be featured as one of your special clients!”

So, I guess I just have to come up with something better.

    Working on it…

  • Genna McWhinnie

I have been known to create rap songs for peeps before and Elizabeth reminds me what fun it is to just DAMN. WELL DO .IT.
