Build your marketing
You have a brand-spanking new business going live, and it’s huge.
You need a big pile of clarity and focus and attention to detail and argh argh so many decisions I have no idea what shade of blue is most appropriate for my brand what’s the best decision I’m starting to get overwhelmed…

Firstly we’ll talk for a couple of hours about what this new business is, who the audience is, the features and benefits. The ideas will be reduced and defined and all the pieces will be turned counter-clockwise until they fit together. By the end of those sessions you’ll feel incredibly liberated and clear and unconfused. (Most people feel rather like they ran a marathon then drank a magnum of champagne. Tired but elated.)
I’ll take all of the insights and produce The Guide. It’s a two-page list of do’s and do-not’s, a summary of the user experience and the core idea and values behind the website, all in one place. This isn’t just pleasant to have – although it is - it does something much more important: it acts as a decision matrix. If your Guide says, “We take our work passionately, but we never take it seriously” then you know that toned-down corporate-style copy won’t fit. If your Guide says, “Individuality, delight and colour are supreme” then you know which themes would and would not work for your website.
