Marketing an empire: an interview with Andy Hayes

The delightful Andy

I met Andy at the world’s largest cup of coffee. (This was at BlogWorld, in the exhibition floor.) A terribly serious man in the Guiness World Record blazer was watching and measuring as a team attempted to make the world’s largest cup of coffee – and then convert it into the world’s largest ice coffee.

I don’t for the life of me remember who introduced us. Thank you, whoever you are.

At the time, it was another in the series of Meeting Very Awesome People at BlogWorld Because That Is Why I Flew Halfway Around The World, After All events. We talked about his work and mine, and where they were heading.

And a few months after that, he hired me to rock the marketing of his three different businesses: Sharing Travel Experiences, Travel Online Partners, and AndyHayes.com.

It’s been fascinating to work with the one-man empire and see how he manages so deftly to keep the plates spinning.

In order to share the insights, I interviewed Andy on how to successfully market and run three related but very different businesses. If you’ve been thinking of starting your own empire, this is a must-listen.
