Magnificence and scissors

Here is a short and visual story about how you can’t inch your way into magnificence.

I rarely do videos, but this was too good an opportunity to miss.

What are your thoughts? Tell me in the comments!

    Oh my gosh!!!

What an excellent visual to go with your point. I can’t believe you totally did that!

    Rock on. xo

Seriously, I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I’ve bee doing the ‘fro for about 8 – 10 years now and I am bored with it and have always thought the african american women I see with very short, near bald, dos, look magnificent(to use the word from the video). I have been hemming and hawing because I don’t have the “right” wardrobe to go with this hairdo and I don’t want to look “manly”.

All of this may be all in my head(as most things are, right? LOL!) but I could just go with it and make myself new clothes, seeing as how I sew and all, for goodness sakes!!

I also like those tribal tattoos, but that’s another story for another time. LOL!

What was the inspiration behind this video? Were you already contemplating cutting off your hair or did you see it as a great way to make an impactful example of the difference between half-stepping and magnificence?

    Great video! Definitely do more!

Do eeeet! Although you might want to wait until summer. :)

Some singlets now make my shoulders look a bit broad, but that’s about it in terms of effect on my clothes. (You can tell that I don’t look AT ALL scary – even with seven piercings and a mini-mo, and wearing a heavy metal shirt, I still look unthreatening!)

I was already going to do the hair – it was too long, too hot, and I was very bored with it – so I thought I’d throw in a bonus video.

I’ll do more videos if people want them!

Definitely wait for warmer weather. Yesterday it was spring like and I was thinking, “yeah, no more sweater and hats and coats and boots and…..” and then..I open the door this morning…

WHAM! Hit in the face with a COLD blast of air…..

Stupid Mother Nature, I’d like to drop kick her. :-)

My grand plan is to go to the Northern Hemisphere every June to August so I never, never have to endure winter again.

You are brave, bold and beautiful. In a word: Magnificent!!!

Awesome haircut and awesome metaphor! I went from shoulder length hair to 1/4 inch hair about a year and a half ago. Eventually I got tired of the super short hair and have been growing it out a bit so I’d have more of it to dye purple. I love my purple hair!

Thank you, Glad dearest! I can but try. :)

Your purple hair is fantastic! I was tempted to go with colours, but it was easier to pick up The Dude’s clippers and go at that.

May try purple later! Or fire engine red!

    Thank you, dearest!

    Smack!

That’s the sound of my jaw on the desk :)

I love it and the piercings go perfectly. I’m a veteran of many different hairstyles and lengths so it makes perfect sense to me to change it when it doesn’t suit you anymore. After all, it’s just hair :)

    Brilliant! Thanks!

I was so pleased with how much it made the piercings stand out. This hair was made of win!

And, see, my grand plan is to move to Oz June – August so I don’t have to deal with the Texas summers. They suck! :)

Re: the video – Great way to use something you were already planning to do to make a point for us readers. It looks great!

    Triple kudos for that comment.

I was very tempted, but what track could I possibly play? Laid to Rest? Pathetic?

    Ooh, I know! Redneck!

Hello sexy mama!! You look MAGNIFICENT with a shaved head! Thank you for sharing the video and story (and for wearing the perfect shirt). I feel honored to have witnessed such courage. Did I tell you that I have mustered the courage to get dreads? Even though, according to others, I have “dream” curly hair? Next week!

  • http://andydolph.com Andy Dolph

Amazing! Brilliant! Wonderful! and also fun that one of the steps in my magnificence was deciding to let my hair GET long…. short hair never really felt right, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted, and it was what I was “suposed to do” to look “profesional” whatever that means… but long hair feels good to me, so this is fun.

  • https://CashAndJoy.com Catherine Caine

Dreads are hard work, but I miss them nonetheless. :)

Simple. Brilliant. I can now carry the simple picture of you shaving your head in my mind when I am faced with the choice of being ‘safe’ or being extraordinary.

And you look stunning with your head shaved…your whole face lights up now. Beautiful.

    Thank you.

Bet all your avian-type neighbors loved you after that one! :-D

You have a point, and it is not, in fact, on the top of your head.
